The Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle anime film has overtaken 2022’s ONE PIECE FILM RED to become the sixth highest-grossing movie in Japan.
According to the official Demon Slayer X (formerly Twitter) account, the first entry in the conclusive Infinity Castle trilogy earned 22,072,191,500 yen (~US$148.8 million) and drew Een menigte van 15.698,202 bioscoopbezoekers in de eerste 25 dagen. One Piece Film Red’s Gross’s (zonder inflatieaanpassingen) is ongeveer 20,34 miljard yen.

Infinity Castle (Gekijoban “Kimetsu no Yaiba” Mugenjou-Hen Daiisshou Akaza Sairai in Japans) geopend op 452 locaties in Japan (inclusief 59 IMAX-locaties) op 18 juli JST, en zal deze maand beginnen met zijn internationale run (de Noord-Amerikaanse première zal op 12 september zijn). De film en de aankomende sequels passen de laatste boog van het Demon Slayer-verhaal aan, waar het Demon Slayer Corps Muzan en zijn demonen een laatste keer in het titulaire Infinity Castle betrekken.
De originele demon Slayer: Kimetsu no yaiba manga door Koyoharu Gotouge ran van 2016 tot 2020 in wekelijkse shonen jump. Viz Media beschrijft de manga als:

The previous Demon Slayer movie, 2020’s Demon Slayer – Kimetsu No Yaiba – the Movie: Mugen Train, is Japan’s most successful movie of all time with a domestic gross of 40.43 billion yen.
