Er werd ook onthuld dat het openingsthema-nummer”Seishun to WA”van Shonan no Kaze feat is. Atarashii Gakkou geen leiders .
Grand Blue is gebaseerd op de door Kodansha gepubliceerde manga geschreven door Kenji Inoue en getekend door Kimitake Yoshioka . De manga is goed begonnen met serialisatie! Middag in 2014 en heeft 23 delen vanaf oktober 2024. Kodansha USA beschrijft het uitgangspunt als:
